FAQ

Where is MTX based?

Vancouver, British Columbia. We’re a Canadian company and we ship from within Canada.

Do you ship across Canada?

Yes. We ship Canada-wide with tracked delivery. Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your address and the size of your order.

Are products stocked in Canada?

Yes. Everything we sell ships from our stock in Vancouver, so there are no import duties, customs fees or brokerage charges on Canadian orders. Products that haven’t landed yet are marked Coming soon on the product page with an expected date, and can’t be ordered until they’re here.

What brands do you carry?

Fairtex and YOKKAO, with further brands to come.

When will Fairtex be available?

Our Fairtex shipment is arriving mid-November. Join the VIP list to hear first when it lands.

What sports do you cover?

MTX is a combat sports retailer — Muay Thai, boxing and MMA. Our launch range is strongest in Muay Thai and boxing, and includes MMA equipment such as grappling gloves and Vale Tudo shorts. We’re expanding the MMA selection as we bring on more brands.

How do I choose the right glove weight?

For boxing and Muay Thai, glove weight is usually chosen by bodyweight and by what you’re doing.

  • 10 oz — competition and bag work, lighter athletes
  • 12 oz — general training and pad work, lighter or smaller athletes
  • 14 oz — the most common all-round training weight
  • 16 oz — the standard for sparring, and for heavier athletes

As a rough guide: under 60 kg, 10–12 oz; 60–70 kg, 12–14 oz; 70–80 kg, 14–16 oz; over 80 kg, 16 oz.

Check with your gym before buying — many require 16 oz gloves for sparring regardless of your weight. If you’re buying mainly for sparring, 16 oz is the most commonly required size. For general training, the right choice depends on your weight, gym rules and how you’ll use the gloves.

What about MMA and grappling gloves?

MMA gloves aren’t measured on the same scale. They’re open-palm and much lighter — typically around 4 oz for competition and 6–7 oz for sparring and grappling — and they’re sized S/M/L/XL by hand size rather than by bodyweight. An MMA glove is not a substitute for a boxing glove in hard sparring, and most gyms won’t allow it.

How do I choose shorts and apparel sizing?

Muay Thai shorts are cut shorter and closer than Western training shorts, and Thai sizing often runs smaller than North American equivalents. If you’re between sizes, we generally suggest sizing up.

Vale Tudo and compression shorts are a different case — they’re designed to fit tight, so size to your normal fit rather than sizing up.

If you’re unsure, email us before you order — we’d rather help you get it right the first time than process a return.

Can I return or exchange an item?

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to request a return. See our Refund Policy for full details.
